1. Requirements
Before installing DevAgent WBR, make sure your site meets the following requirements:
– WordPress 6.8 or higher
– PHP 8.1 or higher
– WooCommerce 8.5 or higher
– WooCommerce installed and active
– A WooCommerce product that will be configured as Booking simple or Booking variable
DevAgent WBR is designed to work with WooCommerce products, cart, checkout, orders and emails. It does not replace WooCommerce; it extends it with rental and booking functionality.
2. Installation
To install DevAgent WBR:
1. Log in to your WordPress admin area.
2. Go to Plugins > Add New.
3. Click Upload Plugin.
4. Upload the DevAgent WBR plugin ZIP file.
5. Click Install Now.
6. Activate the plugin.
7. Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active.
8. Go to DevAgent WBR > Settings to review the global booking settings.
After activation, DevAgent WBR adds new WooCommerce product types and an admin menu where you can configure global settings and manage booking availability.
NOTE: If WooCommerce is not active, DevAgent WBR will not be able to provide booking products, cart validation, checkout validation or order metadata.
3. Global settings
Go to DevAgent WBR > Settings to configure the default booking behavior for your site.
The settings page is divided into two main areas:
– General
– Frontend
Billing mode
The billing mode defines how selected dates are interpreted and how booking units are calculated.
Day mode allows a single date or an inclusive date range. For example, a booking from 2026-05-10 to 2026-05-10 counts as 1 day.
Night mode requires a check-in date before the check-out date. For example, a booking from 2026-05-10 to 2026-05-11 counts as 1 night, and the checkout day remains available for a new booking.
Default minimum units
This setting defines the minimum number of days or nights required for a valid booking.
For example, if the default minimum units value is 2, customers must select at least 2 days in day mode or 2 nights in night mode.
Blocked order statuses
DevAgent WBR calculates availability from WooCommerce order line item metadata. You can choose which WooCommerce order statuses should reduce availability.
By default, completed orders remain blocked so confirmed bookings continue to reduce availability.
You may also choose to block availability for processing or on-hold orders if your booking workflow requires dates to be reserved before final completion.
Uninstall behavior
You can choose what happens when DevAgent WBR is deleted from the Plugins screen.
The recommended option is to keep plugin data. This keeps settings, product booking rules and calendar rules available if you reinstall the plugin later.
If you choose to delete plugin data, DevAgent WBR removes its settings, cache data and product-level booking rules. WooCommerce orders, sales data and order item booking details are preserved.
Frontend settings
The Frontend settings control how availability information is displayed to customers.
You can choose whether to show remaining availability on the product page and whether customers can select more than one item when booking products.
You can also customize the singular and plural resource labels. For example, you may use item/items, unit/units, bike/bikes or room/rooms depending on what you rent.
4. Creating booking products
DevAgent WBR adds two WooCommerce product types:
– Booking simple
– Booking variable
Booking simple
Use Booking simple when the product has one bookable option.
Example use cases:
– One apartment
– One room type
– One rental item
– One tour or experience
– One bookable service with a single price
To create a Booking simple product:
1. Go to Products > Add New.
2. Enter the product name, description, images and price.
3. In Product data, select Booking simple.
4. Set the regular WooCommerce price. This price is used as the base price per booking unit.
5. Configure Capacity per day.
6. Configure Minimum units.
7. Publish or update the product.
Once published, the product page will show the DevAgent WBR booking calendar.
Booking variable
Use Booking variable when the customer must choose a variation before selecting booking dates.
Example use cases:
– Rooms with different capacities
– Bikes in different sizes
– Rental equipment with different models
– Apartments with different configurations
– Services with different options
To create a Booking variable product:
1. Go to Products > Add New.
2. Enter the product name, description and images.
3. In Product data, select Booking variable.
4. Create the product attributes.
5. Enable variations from those attributes.
6. Open each variation.
7. Set the variation price.
8. Configure the booking capacity and minimum units for each variation.
9. Publish or update the product.
For Booking variable products, booking settings are configured inside each variation. The parent product does not contain shared booking options in the General tab.
5. Capacity per day
Capacity per day defines how many units can be booked for the same occupied date.
For example, if you rent bikes and set Capacity per day to 5, up to 5 bikes can be booked for the same day as long as the selected quantity does not exceed the remaining availability.
If capacity is reduced after existing bookings already occupy a date, existing bookings are kept. The new capacity only affects future availability checks.
6. Minimum units
Minimum units defines the shortest allowed booking length.
In day mode, units are days.
In night mode, units are nights.
For example:
– Minimum units: 1 allows a one-day booking in day mode.
– Minimum units: 2 requires at least two days or two nights, depending on the selected billing mode.
7. Frontend booking flow
On the product page, DevAgent WBR displays a booking calendar before the add-to-cart action.
Customers can select a booking date or date range directly on the calendar. Unavailable dates are disabled automatically.
When remaining availability is enabled, the calendar can show how much availability remains for each date.
After the customer selects valid dates, the booking information is sent to WooCommerce cart and checkout.
Customer-facing labels
The customer may see booking details such as:
– Start date
– End date
– Units
– Remaining availability
– Available
– Limited
– Unavailable
For Booking variable products, the customer must select a variation before choosing booking dates.
8. Cart, checkout and order metadata
DevAgent WBR stores booking details as WooCommerce order item metadata.
The booking details are displayed in the cart, checkout, admin order screen and order emails.
The main booking metadata includes:
– Start date
– End date
– Billing mode
– Units
At checkout, DevAgent WBR validates availability again. If a booking in the cart is no longer available, checkout is stopped and the customer is asked to choose another date range.
9. Pricing behavior
DevAgent WBR uses the WooCommerce product price as the base price for each booking unit.
The final booking price is calculated by multiplying the base price by the number of booking units.
For example, if the product price is €50 and the customer selects 3 nights, the booking price is calculated as €50 × 3.
If quantity selection is enabled and the customer books more than one unit, WooCommerce quantity also applies to the cart line total.
Advanced pricing rules are not included in the current free version.
10. Calendar / Bookings
Go to DevAgent WBR > Calendar / Bookings to review availability and manage booking dates.
The Calendar / Bookings screen allows you to:
– Select a booking product or booking variation
– Choose a month
– Review daily availability
– See available, limited or blocked dates
– Inspect booking entries linked to WooCommerce orders
– Block or unblock specific dates
– Increase or decrease capacity for specific dates
– Clear capacity overrides
– Invalidate availability cache when needed
Calendar statuses
Available
The date can still accept the requested quantity.
Limited
The date is partially occupied but still has remaining capacity.
Blocked
The date is unavailable because it is in the past, manually blocked or has insufficient capacity.
Capacity override
A custom capacity value was set for that date, including zero.
11. Availability cache
DevAgent WBR uses availability cache to avoid recalculating the same booking availability repeatedly.
When product settings, calendar rules or related booking data change, the plugin invalidates the relevant cache.
From Calendar / Bookings, you can manually invalidate the selected product cache or all availability cache entries.
12. HPOS compatibility
DevAgent WBR is compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage.
The plugin reads booking data through WooCommerce APIs instead of relying directly on legacy order database tables.
13. Troubleshooting
The booking calendar does not appear
Make sure the product type is Booking simple or Booking variable.
For Booking variable products, make sure the product has active variations with prices.
The customer cannot select dates
Check that the selected dates are not in the past, blocked, fully booked or shorter than the minimum booking length.
Also review the product capacity and the selected blocked order statuses.
Availability looks incorrect
Go to DevAgent WBR > Calendar / Bookings and select the product or variation.
Review the month view, existing bookings, day rules and capacity overrides.
If needed, use the cache invalidation buttons to refresh availability.
The price is higher than expected
DevAgent WBR multiplies the WooCommerce base price by the number of booking units.
If quantity selection is enabled, WooCommerce also multiplies the cart line by the selected quantity.
